Recommended Supplies
Bring whatever acrylic paints and supplies you have: an easel will help, along with your paints and brushes, palette, water containers, paper towels, snacks etc., and at least 2 canvasses or boards in the 11"x14" to 14"x18" range, and a couple of small (8"x10" is good) ones for exercises.
Canvasses
- Small (two or three smaller sizes)
- 8" x 10"
- Medium (at least two in this range - doesn't have to be exact)
- 11" x 14"
- 14" x 18"
Paints
I use mostly Golden and Opus brand acrylics, but any brand of professional quality will do. Don't feel you need all of these, but. . .
My most common tubes are:
* indicates transparent colours, necessary for glazing. Try to have at least the Indian yellow, pthalo blue, and transparent red iron oxide .
- Titanium white
- *Green gold
- *Indian yellow (Golden brand )
- Yellow ochre
- Cadmium yellow light
- Cad yellow medium
- *Pthalo blue (red shade)
- Cerulean blue
- Pthalo Turquoise
- *Dioxazine violet
- *Transparent red iron oxide
- *Quinacridone burnt orange (Golden brand)
- *Quinacridone nickel azo gold
- *Quinacridone magenta
- Hookers green
- Cadmium red light
A small container of black gesso if you have it, any brand. Don’t buy it if you don’t already have it. You won’t need much, and I can supply it.
Brushes
At least one good wide brush. 1 ½-2”
